I can't count how many times I had to reboot my cheap M-Audio before I upgraded to an Audient, and I saw at least one person mention similar issues with this interface in this thread. You could also try the audio interface listed in this thread, which is only $20 and may solve your issue, but in my experience the inexpensive interfaces can be finicky. If you really want to go for it, you could look for a balanced output (XLR) DAC, which start a bit higher and top out at "if you have to ask you can't afford it", but I don't think you would gain much from that. Audio Engine makes a small and relatively affordable DAC with these features, as does Monoprice, Schiit, and countless others. Look for a DAC that allows for an optical input so if you continue having issues with whine you can switch to optical and get power from an external brick instead of the PC. Just about any DAC is compatible, so it really comes down to features and price point. It took an enormous, time-consuming amount of work to convince them to stop contacting me, because every time I would raise the issue they would just hand me over to a new "expert representative" who would take up the mantle and try to make things right. I haven't ordered from them in years since their predatory, manipulative marketing behavior turned me off from dealing with them, so maybe with some luck they have dialed that back but companies usually only go in one direction with that sort of thing. They will pummel you with guilt trip emails, leave messages about how sad they are that they keep missing you and just "want to catch up" on how it's going on your projects. They will "follow up" on all your orders to make sure your gear is working out-okay, cool on paper, but-then start making endless suggestions on your next purchases because they're just so dang into sharing their expert knowledge and want to make sure you're being the best cabbit that you can be! (hint: being the best cabbit requires buying the newest, latest stuff that they just heard about) Just for balance purposes, I'll also spoil that if you deal with them at all regularly, or even just interact with your "personal representative" that contacts you, you will be receiving infinite emails, calls and voice mails for literal years that will never stop hounding you.
